Spring Creek

The Community Service Task Force of the
Alliston Rotary Club approached the town's Parks, Recreation and Culture
Dept. to see what visions they had for the town. The club was looking for
a new 'hands-on project' for the coming year. This property is completely
untouched - very old trees, wild flowers, beaver dams and last known
location for brown trout in Simcoe County.
Rotary has adopted "Spring Creek Park" for a period of five
years which requires us to have twice-yearly cleanups.
Our developmental plans for this year have included better defining the
walking path on the north side with wood chips donated by the town and
building stone steps from the upper level of Peace Park to the creek
level.
|
| Next spring we will build an attractive entrance way in Peace Park welcoming the public to our interpretative nature walk. Signage will be one of the final stages of our development, both on Albert Street and at the nature sights on the walk. It is hoped that when completed this path will be the site of many school bus trips, family walks and, perhaps in the winter, for cross-country skiing. |

This past fall Rotary added this attractive stone staircase and entrance walk to the Spring Creek pathway. These steps will make the descent to the pathway much easier and accessible for many more people. |
